At CrossRoads Missions, we aim to help others and spread ministry through mission trips to areas such as Appalachia, Louisville, Mexico, and New Orleans. Sign-ups for our 2019 trips now are under way.
You may be wondering, what sets apart CrossRoads from other mission organizations? To answer that question, read this first-person account from Jeremy Stevenson, Student Minister at Franklin Christian Church in Franklin, Tennessee.
I had the opportunity to go to Piedras Negras, Mexico with CrossRoads Missions three times as a student when I was in high school. I’ve also led or been a part of eight trips (over the last eight years) now as an adult. In high school, I was on trips with hundreds of students, and now as an adult have lead groups of 40-plus. From my perspective, what CrossRoads is doing in Piedras Negras cannot be described as anything other than Kingdom advancement.
It was in Piedras Negras, through CrossRoads, that Jesus opened my eyes to the mission he had for my life. It is in Piedras Negras, through CrossRoads, that Jesus has called dozens of my students into Kingdom work. It is in Piedras Negras, through CrossRoads, that our Church has caught a glimpse of our calling, not only around the world, but in Tennessee as well. Probably my favorite thing about partnering with CrossRoads is that their ministry and work is sustainable. The advancement of the Gospel does not stop when your group leaves after your short-term trip. Missionaries are planted in the city, schools have been started, orphanages are provided for, and so much more. I want the high schoolers I lead on these trips to be a part of something bigger than our one trip. Something bigger than our one week. CrossRoads has provided that in Piedras Negras.
At the end of the day, mission organizations seem to be a dime a dozen these days. It’s hard to know which ones are actually making a difference in their specific community. It’s hard to know which trips will leave a lasting impact on your group. It’s hard. However, CrossRoads has made it easy. CrossRoads has created a safe, sustainable, and life-changing experience in Piedras Negras. It would be a perfect choice for someone’s first cross-culture trip, as well as for people who have been all around the world. Jesus is doing big things in Piedras Negras. Church, let’s join in!
