Last week we told you about our End of Year fundraising campaign, which seeks to raise additional money to grow our developmental fund. However, you still may be confused about what a developmental fund actually does. How does this fund tie into the overall philosophy of what we do at CrossRoads Missions? This article will explain.

CrossRoads is about more than just building homes.

When you think about what we do at CrossRoads, what comes to mind? It might be a mission trip for your church group to a location where people are in need of help. It might conjure images of bringing Help Build Hope to your school, business, or church for a one-day or weekend-long build event.

We can do more… much more.

Last week, we explained how our developmental fund connects our fields with one another. It’s the means we use to provide logistical support, provide services in those fields, and promote the good work that CrossRoads is doing—and that’s just part of what this fund does.

As CrossRoads grows, our ministry multiplies.

There are many worthwhile causes and organizations seeking charitable financial donations this time of year. We understand that all the options can be overwhelming—and that we all are working within a budget. We also recognize that, when choosing to contribute, you want to know where your money is going. When you make a donation to support us, your contribution has impact:

It impacts those who live in our fields. Working in concert with local ministry partners in each of our geographical areas of service, CrossRoads makes a true and tangible difference in the lives of those living in these places.

It impacts those who serve with us. Whether you’re embarking on a week-long trip to Mexico or Appalachia, or gathering with friends and family for a one-day build in a parking lot, you’re experiencing the power of service and changing lives: those in your community, and your own.

It impacts leaders. As the leader of a church or charitable group, you’re always looking to find opportunities to provide meaningful and sustaining service.

It impacts communities. Through ServeLouisville, we provide affordable housing for individuals and families that have made a commitment to “missional living”, allowing them the chance to do good in these neighborhoods for years to come.

We impact the church. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a day or a week; short-term mission trips evoke long-term change and help to fulfill long-term objectives for Christ.

We impact the Kingdom of God. CrossRoads strives to be a light in the world, and does so by offering thousands of hours of outreach and service opportunities. We’ve been doing this work for 26 years and counting, and we hope for bigger and better in the future.
